Toastmasters International Organizational Structure
Toastmasters International is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals improve their communication and leadership skills. To effectively support its members across the world, Toastmasters operates through a structured and tiered hierarchy designed to deliver resources, foster leadership development, and provide customized support at all levels.
Member
The member is the heart of the Toastmasters International organization.
Club
The club is formed by its members. At least 20 members are needed to start a new club. The club is guided by its Executive Committee, where members work together to achieve goals in the Distinguished Club Program (DCP). The Executive Committee includes the President, Immediate Past President, Vice President Education, Vice President Membership, Vice President Public Relations, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant At Arms.
Area
Clubs are grouped into Areas, each consisting of 4 to 6 clubs. An Area Director serves as a resource and the main contact between the clubs, the District Director, and Toastmasters International.
Division
Areas are grouped into Divisions, with 4 to 6 Areas in each Division. A Division Director is elected or appointed to support Area Directors and coordinate activities, ensuring all clubs in the Division benefit from educational opportunities.
District
Divisions are combined to create Districts. For example, District 76 consists of 10 Divisions (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J). Clubs elect a District Director, Program Quality Director, and Club Growth Director to oversee and manage the Toastmasters program across the District.
Region
Districts are grouped into larger units called Regions, which are the highest administrative divisions. Each region elects two members to serve on the Toastmasters International Board. Region 9 where District 76 belongs includes 6 Districts (South Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Malesia, and so on).
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Toastmasters International is made up of elected volunteers, including a President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Directors from each region, and a Program Director. Together, they as an international organization develop an educational program, which is then implemented at the other levels of Toastmasters.
World Headquarters
World Headquarters employs over 140 professionals, led by the Chief Executive Officer. They manage the daily operations of Toastmasters International, offering support and resources to clubs and districts.
